Nursing Instructor - Full-Time Tenure Track

NURSING INSTRUCTOR – FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK POSITION

SALARY: $64,563 Annually

DESCRIPTION: Edmonds Community College is recruiting for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Practical Nursing Program.  The primary responsibility for the instructor will be teaching courses in the practical nursing program including online, classroom, skills lab and clinical instruction as well as providing leadership and support for development of simulation training for students.  This instructor will also support the Program Director in program development, implementation, and evaluation of the purpose and outcomes of the nursing program; development of program admission criteria and graduation policies; maintenance of  program approval with the WA Nursing Commission, obtaining national accreditation, faculty and student recruitment;  student advising; monitoring and evaluating student progress and achievement; development of annual schedule for nursing classes; maintenance of current clinical sites and recruitment of new clinical sites. This teaching assignment may include early morning or late afternoon /evening classes and will include online teaching as well.  This is a tenure-track position that reports to the Director of Nursing in  the Health and Human Services Division.

This is a tenure-track position reporting to the Director of Nursing in the Health and Human Services Division.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters of Science in Nursing , or current enrollment in masters in nursing program 
  • RN Licensure in Washington State, or ability to obtain one by September 2018.
  • Minimum  two years of clinical nursing experience in either long term or acute care environments.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching nursing or allied health education courses.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, Google, CANVAS ) and the ability to apply relevant technology  to the classroom.
  • Experience with simulation training and online instruction, including learning management systems such as CANVAS or Blackboard
  • Experience with clinical supervision and applied clinical assessment and evaluation in the laboratory and clinical setting.
  • Evidence of excellent writing, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
  • Experience in creative programming and  curriculum development within an evidence-based, student-centered teaching and learning model
  • Experience  with program evaluation and accreditation in any setting.
  • Ability to work effectively with students and staff representing diverse backgrounds, life experiences and abilities, and to foster a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.

Additional Information

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in a classroom, lab and office and requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.  Position may require offsite clinical supervision.

COMPENSATION:  
The salary will be based on the current faculty salary schedule; placement is based on education and related experience. The current salary is $64,563 annually for a 172-day appointment. The college provides an excellent benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and a retirement plan.

  • All new positions are contingent upon funding.
  • This position is part of a bargaining unit subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
